Sara Anne Giddings was raised in Marble Falls, Texas. In eighth grade, Sara declared she was going to be a lawyer. Her parents already suspected that she would become an attorney because in third grade she drafted a behavior contract with conditions for them and herself. Sara is still drafting contracts today although they are a bit more complex than the one she drafted in crayon as a third grader.
Since starting her legal career in 2007 in Corpus Christi, Sara has primarily focused her practice in four areas: tax, business, estate planning, and probate. Sara has represented several clients in federal tax audits, sales tax audits, and tax controversy matters. One of the highlights of her legal career was winning an appeal with the Internal Revenue Service that led to a taxpayer obtaining innocent spouse relief. Sara’s business clients include oil and gas service companies, construction companies, wineries, automotive part distributors, farms, and real estate investment companies. Sara enjoys assisting business clients with entity formation and helping them flourish into very successful companies.
The best way to be prepared is to have a plan and that is why Sara thinks that it is so important that all individuals have an estate plan. Working closely with her clients, Sara tailors an estate plan that meets their needs. Sara enjoys working with multiple generations of clients to create an individual, personal plan for their estate and business needs.
In addition to serving her clients, Sara is passionate about serving her community and the bar. Sara currently serves as a Director of the El Puente Foundation and as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Tom Green County Bar Association. For her service to the community and to the bar, Sara has received several honors including the 2013 McClennan County Outstanding Young Lawyer, 2015 and 2016 Tom Green County Outstanding Young Lawyer, 2015 Texas Business Women of San Angelo Women to Watch, and 2015 20 under 40 of San Angelo.
Sara currently serves as the Treasurer of the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) and will serve as Chair-Elect for the 2020-2021 bar year. Sara has served on the Board of Directors of TYLA since 2015. During her time on TYLA she has led several law focused education projects including I was the first. You can be a lawyer too! and Teach Safe. Learn Safe Be Safe. and has contributed extensively to attorney wellness initiatives. For her contributions to TYLA and legal profession, Sara has received several accolades including the 2015-2016 Outstanding First Year Director Award, the 2016-2017 Joseph M. Pritchard Outstanding Director Award, the Legacy of Service Award, and a Presidential Citation by State Bar of Texas President Allan DuBois.
Sara joins the Law Offices of Trent Nichols, PLLC from her own practice in San Angelo, Texas. For the last several years she has represented clients in West Texas and across the state in tax, business, estate planning, and probate matters. Sara looks forward to continuing to represent her West Texas clients along with clients in Lavaca, DeWitt, and Gonzales Counties.
